Information stored on your device
YidCalendar can store cycle entries, hefsek and Mikvah milestones, personal reminders, scanned or manually entered events, invitation images, notification preferences, location preferences, calendar selections, theme and Siddur settings, and other app settings. This information is used to provide the features you choose. Core Hebrew calendar, zmanim, learning, and Siddur calculations run on your device.
Location
If you allow location access, your approximate device location is used to calculate local zmanim such as sunrise, sunset, candle lighting, and nightfall. Those calculations are performed by the app. You can instead choose a city manually. YidCalendar does not sell location data and does not use it for advertising.
Microphone and speech recognition
If you use voice commands or Quick Add dictation, the app records a short audio clip and requests on-device speech recognition. The resulting text is interpreted on the device to navigate to dates or prepare editable reminder and event drafts. Audio is temporary and is not retained as app content. Transcribed text is sent off the device only if you later approve an optional OpenAI request, as described below.
Camera, photos, and invitation scanning
If you choose to scan an invitation, YidCalendar uses a photo you take or select. Text recognition runs on the device. A compressed invitation image and recognized event details may be stored with the event if you save it.
Invitation scanning includes an optional, off-by-default “Improve results with ChatGPT” control. If you turn that control on and you are signed in, a compressed copy of the invitation and its recognized text are sent through YidCalendar’s signed-in backend to OpenAI to help draft event details. YidCalendar does not keep that upload as a separate server archive. OpenAI may retain limited safety logs. Nothing is saved as an event until you review it.
Optional OpenAI for Quick Add
Quick Add first tries to prepare reminders, tasks, and events on your device. If the on-device parser cannot understand what you typed or dictated, YidCalendar asks before anything leaves the phone. If you tap “Send this text to OpenAI,” the text is sent through YidCalendar’s signed-in backend to OpenAI to draft a reminder. This requires a signed-in YidCalendar account. YidCalendar does not store that request as app content. OpenAI may keep limited safety logs. Nothing is saved as a reminder until you review and confirm it. You can decline and keep the text on the device.
Calendar access
With your permission, YidCalendar can display events from calendars available through Apple’s EventKit framework. If you enable Mikvah Calendar Sync, it can also add selected milestones to a calendar you choose. The app marks the events it creates so it can update or remove only its own synced entries.
Notifications
If enabled, local notifications may be scheduled for reminders, events, zmanim, hefsek, bedikah, Mikvah night, and onah warnings. These notifications are scheduled through iOS and can be controlled in the app and in iPhone Settings.
Optional YidCalendar account and server sync
You may create an account using an email address and password. Account authentication and optional server sync are provided through Supabase. If you enable account sync, selected calendar records, reminders, events, invitation photos, cycle entries, and related settings associated with your account can be transmitted to and stored by this service so they can be restored on another device or recovered after reinstall. If you enable two-person Mikvah calendar sharing, selected records are available to the partner you authorize. Sharing is optional, and access is restricted to members of that shared calendar. Sign-in does not require account sync to finish before you can use the calendar on this device.
Optional iCloud sync
If you are signed in with an Apple Account and enable iCloud in YidCalendar, reminders, events, invitation photos, and selected settings can sync through Apple’s CloudKit private database for that Apple Account. iCloud sync is optional, is off unless you turn it on, and should be enabled on each device that should receive the same data. Apple processes this information under Apple’s privacy policy for iCloud.
Subscriptions and purchase status
YidCalendar Premium Monthly and Annual are sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple processes payment. YidCalendar also uses RevenueCat to help restore and check Premium entitlement on your Apple ID. RevenueCat may process a purchase identifier and entitlement status so Premium can be unlocked after a restore. YidCalendar does not receive your full card number.
Optional SMS reminders
If you set up SMS reminders, YidCalendar processes the recipient phone number, your consent confirmation, selected reminder category, and wording choice to send the message you request. SMS delivery is provided by Textbelt. The recipient number and message are sent to Textbelt for delivery; YidCalendar’s delivery audit stores a one-way hash and the last four digits rather than the complete number or message body. Test messages are rate-limited. Recipients may reply STOP to opt out. Do not enroll a recipient unless they have agreed to receive these private messages.
Face ID, Touch ID, and passcode
If you enable the Mikvah lock, authentication is handled by iOS. YidCalendar receives only whether authentication succeeded; it does not receive or store your biometric data or device passcode.
Analytics, advertising, service providers, and sharing
YidCalendar does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs for advertising and does not sell personal information. Service providers process data only when you use the matching optional feature:
- Supabase: account authentication, optional server sync, and optional two-person sharing.
- OpenAI: optional Quick Add drafting and optional invitation-scan assistance, only after in-app consent or an explicit ChatGPT toggle, and only while signed in.
- RevenueCat and Apple: Premium purchase and restore.
- Textbelt: optional SMS delivery.
- Apple: EventKit calendars, notifications, WeatherKit, CloudKit/iCloud, on-device speech, and App Store purchases.
We do not authorize these providers to use your information for YidCalendar advertising. We do not use this data to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual reminders, events, and cycle entries in the app. Mikvah settings also provide a control to delete all cycle data. Settings include a control to delete your YidCalendar account and associated server-stored account data. Turning off or deleting app data does not automatically remove copies already written to a calendar you selected unless the app’s removal control is used. Disabling iCloud stops future CloudKit sync from this app; copies already in iCloud follow your Apple Account iCloud settings. For help, contact us through the Support page.
Children
YidCalendar is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated service.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated as the app changes. Questions can be sent through the contact method on the Support page.
